As the end of 2009 draws near, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on this past year. 2009 brought with it many challenges and many rewards. Like many families here in Michigan, my husband and I are both enjoying the struggles of being unemployed, stretching our dollars and trying to see the positive opportunity for extended quality time together (are any of you buying any of this?!). We have grown closer, the kids have gotten used to staying home a little more and as a whole we come back to the basics: board games, popcorn, hanging out in the yard… together. We had been moving so fast, just a few years ago. Trying to keep up, get ahead, squeeze it all in; now we are back to appreciating a little quiet time, a home cooked meal, baking Christmas cookies. Of course the oven’s broke and so we are making them in the toaster oven, but hey… we’re okay. And, we’re happy. Really happy. And, thankful. For the many blessings that came with 2009. A new appreciation. A new career (someday soon, I hope!). A new perspective. From my family to yours, we wish you a happy holiday filled with peace & joy.
